Following last year’s debut, Pulkra, a design brand that expresses itself through the brutal beauty of concrete, returns to Milan Design Week with an installation at Design Variations to present DOME, a collection of water-related furniture elements designed by Pio & Tito Toso.
Pulkra returns to Design Week with Totally Ordered Structures, a display inspired by a theory of Greek composer, architect, engineer, mathematician and philosopher Iannis Xenakis, in which he illustrates the relationship between time and space, order and relativity. From these foundational elements, Pulkra encodes a temporal metric to catalog his products, thus identifying the uniqueness of each object. Yet within this precise order there is an unpredictable component: the living nature of the material, Acron® cement. It is precisely this tension between the established order and the mutability of the material that defines the essence of Pulkra’s installation, creating a fascinating dialogue between precision and unpredictability. Within this installation makes its first appearance the DOME collection, composed of furniture elements related to the world of water designed by Pio&Tito Toso. The new pieces have a simple and essential, architectural language that is defined by pure volumes that enhance the material. The collection consists of furnishing elements related to the world of water: sculptural bathtubs, shower trays and washbasins made of Acron® the CFRC composite cement that is as strong as it is light, enriched with polymers and a fine marble sand. Bathtubs and shower trays, with rigorous lines, offer three different installation options: flush, raised and free standing. Along with DOME, two other novelties: Anthos, a multifunctional module, perfect as a coffee table or longitudinal seat, designed by Debonademeo, and Tiles by Finemateria, portions, similar to tiles, that can be combined to give rise to three distinctive products: an emptying bowl, a fruit bowl and a centerpiece. In the arrangement we also find part of the first PULKRA collection. Compage, a modular system of small concrete table accessories, designed by Martinelli Venezia studio, intended to be used in different environments. The Multiplo chair and table, designed by Finemateria studio, are capable of totally furnishing an indoor and outdoor space thanks to their modularity. The Manifesto table, designed by Stormo Studio, characterized by supports that appear massive but are actually based on a delicate balance.
